Craft your own cookbook based off of local archival recipes while listening to a talk on food history!
The Champaign County Historical Archives holds a collection of local cookbooks made by community organizations, schools, women's groups, and religious institutions. Join the Archives to create your own cookbook to take home, piecing together your favorite recipes from the Archives' collection and collaging a cover.
While you craft, listen to a talk by Meagan Glaser, amateur food historian, entitled: People Feed People. From Meagan, "for as long as humans have cooked, they have shared food with each other. Community cookbooks are a reflection of that long tradition, and I'll talk about the relationship between community and the food it eats and shares."
Meagan Glaser is an amateur food historian, who spends a lot of time reading, researching and recreating historic food. When she's not subjecting her husband to such delights as vinegar lemonade and carrot fudge, she's joining him in spoiling their pet rabbit. She's also had several books of her craft designs published by Leisure Arts and won a Telly for writing the online comedy series "Ninja the Mission Force," none of which impresses the rabbit.
