Music and more for Welcoming Week!
Join us for music and fun activities for all ages! We're excited to host Grupo Calle Verde - an up-and-coming Mexican Sierreño band whose members are students at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign. The band members express their Mexican-American heritage through their covers of regional Mexican music and hope to inspire their audience to pursue their passions. Grupo Calle Verde's members are Jeffery Aguirre, Adrian Sanchez, Daniel Soto and Christian Alvor-Macias (two acoustic guitars, a sousaphone, and an upright bass).
At this event you can also meet others and have fun in the game and activity room, sponsored by Project READ. If the weather permits, we will move all events outside to Cherry Alley.
This event is part of Welcoming Week - a weeklong celebration of immigration that brings together neighbors from all backgrounds to build strong connections and affirm the importance of welcoming inclusive places.
Cosponsored by Project READ and the Urbana Arts and Culture program. Special thanks to The Urbana Free Library Foundation for its financial support for music performances at the library.
