Join us to have some fun learning Yiddish songs and traditions!
This special program for kids and families will feature Klezmer music - a traditional music of Jewish communities with roots in Central and Eastern Europe (called Ashkenazi). This unique and lively music is most often played at weddings and other social events. Yiddish is the language historically spoken in those communities. The Yiddish language and Klezmer music continue to thrive around the world.
Our special guests are the internationally renowned Klezmer musicians Deborah Strauss & Jeff Warschauer (https://www.klezmerduo.com). All are welcome.
This event is part of the Champaign-Urbana Jewish Federation Violins of Hope series (http://www.cujf.org/violins). The Strauss/Warschauer Duo visit is sponsored by the Champaign-Urbana Jewish Endowment Foundation.
