Join Teen Librarians for fun projects and activities! Make sure to register in advance, because this project includes picking up a kit from the Library before the program begins. You can ask for the kit as the circulation desk or call us at 367-4405 to schedule a curbside pickup appointment.
National Deaf History Month is celebrated from March 13 through April 15 to commemorate the achievements of people who are deaf and hard of hearing. The time frame is spread across March and April in recognition of three turning points in deaf education history dating back to the early 1800s.
Teen Librarians Joel and Jordan will go over some fantastic books and other collection items available through the Library that relate to Deaf History or prominently feature d/Deaf characters.
We will then learn some basic signs in American Sign Language, including the alphabet, simple self introductions, and more! This section will be co-taught by one of our Teen Librarians and a local Deaf teen.
