Learn how to create a haiku with former Urbana Poet Laureate Will Reger. Haikus are a form of Japanese short poetry made up of three lines that don’t rhyme. No prior experience writing poetry required!
Will Reger has written and published poetry for approximately the last 15 years. His work has appeared in numerous printed and online publications. From 2019-2020 he served as the Inaugural Poet Laureate for the city of Urbana. He has also published two volumes of poetry—Petroglyphs (2019), and Kaleidoscope (2020).
Want to share your poem with everyone in Urbana? Submit it to the Library’s Poems Across Urbana project! The project will print short - 2-4 lines - original poems on signs to be displayed throughout Urbana in August and September. If your poem is chosen, you’ll receive a sign with your poem printed on it for display.
