This program will air on the Library's Facebook page
In times of crisis throughout history Champaign County's community gardens have served a dual purpose - providing healthy food and building a sense of unity and care. Katie Snyder of the Museum of the Grand Prairie will tell us about the surprising history of Victory Gardens in Champaign County, a tradition that goes back over a century.
We'll also learn about Solidarity Gardens with Traci Barkley and MJ Oviatt of Sola Gratia Farm. Solidarity Gardens is the new local community gardening initiative that brings together our schools, park districts, farmers, the Cunningham Township and more. The Urbana Free Library is proud to support this initiative with our very own Seed Library.
This program will be shown on the Library's Facebook page. No preregistration is required.
Katie Snyder is the Educational Program Specialist at the Museum of the Grand Prairie at the Champaign County Forest Preserve District. In that role, she is interested in welcoming all residents of Champaign County to both the museum space, and the greater outdoor space of our preserves.
