How to use digitized newspapers in your local history research.
Have you conducted research using historical newspapers? Do you want to learn how newspapers can support your genealogy or local history research? The Illinois Digital Newspaper Collections (IDNC) is a freely available digital newspaper database containing issues from over 250 newspapers and includes 12 newspapers from Champaign County. Staff from the Illinois Digital Newspaper Project (IDNP) will demonstrate how to navigate, browse, and search the IDNC and will highlight specific articles from Champaign County history. Come learn about the research value of historical newspapers and how you can use the IDNC to further your own research projects!
