Join curator Heather Bigwood to learn about orphan trains.
Are you interested in learning about the history of the Orphan Train Movement? Do you have a relative who may have been a child adopted from one of the many orphan trains that ran through the Midwest between 1854 and 1929? Join us to learn more with CCGS host Heather Bigwood, curator, at the National Orphan Train Complex in Concordia, Kansas. Heather will guide the audience through the ideals and pitfalls of the Orphan Train Movement, sharing vignettes of real orphan train riders’ lives. She will address common misconceptions about orphan trains and how those assumptions were formed. A Q&A session will be held at the end of the presentation.
