A performance by local favorites Dorothy Martirano and Armand Beaudoin with introductions by Isabella Dorothy Martirano
The Jokers are Armand Beaudoin and Dorothy Martirano, musicians extraordinaire who have played together for 20 years. They have also performed with Almost”A” Quintet, the Sibs, Tangotta, Spinnin’, Slidin ‘n Scratchin’, Trombari, the Tone Road Ramblers, and other local/regional groups. They have performed frequently in Europe with dancer Kirstie Simpson.
Dorothy Martirano has performed extensively in South America, and in Europe and Asia with her husband, composer Sal Martirano. She was concertmaster of the CUSO for 21 years, and she received the ACE Lifetime award from 40 North in 2018. She has recorded for Centaur, Polydor, New World Records, Hal Leonard, and Paramount Pictures among many others.
Armand Beaudoin (cello, bassetto & amp, bass) gained his training as a sideman with numerous jazz artists, including Mary Lou Williams, Charlie Byrd, Herb Ellis, Mose Allison, and Sheila Jordan. In Champaign-Urbana, he has played frequently with TJO (the Traditional Jazz Orchestra) and many other jazz groups.
