Karen Simms is a nationally recognized highly sought speaker, trainer, and presenter on a broad range of specializations, with a specific focus on trauma, trauma informed care, building resiliency, addressing the root causes of community violence, positive youth justice, coalition building, cultural & gender-responsive practices, and integrated care and wellness. She is the founding Director of the Trauma & Resilience Initiative, Inc. and has had extensive experience advocating for individuals and families who have been marginalized because of ethnicity, gender, health, or socioeconomic status. She is a licensed mental health counselor with a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Christian Theological Seminary.
